The word hospice finds its roots in the centuries-old idea of offering a place of shelter and rest to weary and sick travelers on a long journey. Over the years it has evolved into a harbor; a philosophy of care, comfort and support for terminally ill patients and their families. At Harbor Grace Hospice, we desire to be a shelter and refuge for patients and families facing a life limiting illness. Our team of caring professionals is committed to providing compassionate patient and family focused care to meet the needs of all we serve.

The first days of hospice care can be an overwhelming flurry of phone calls, paperwork and information. Our patient handbook is designed to help you with some of the basic information you may need in the days, weeks and months ahead. We recognize that each person is different, and information in this book may not apply to every person. Please use it as a guideline only and work with your hospice team for specifics regarding
your care.
